EXIF data

EXIF data stands for Exchangeable Image File Format data. It refers to the metadata about the camera settings and other details when an image is taken. EXIF data can include information like:

  • Date and time the photo was taken
  • Camera model and manufacturer
  • Shutter speed, aperture, and ISO settings

The EXIF data allows users to search out files using the above information. For example, if a user wants to find the images captured with a particular camera model, he has to type down the camera model name as a search keyword.

Within a few seconds, pictures taken by the camera will appear on the screen. EXIF data can be beneficial for online photo contests in various ways. Suppose a photo contest wants to implement specific rules regarding camera settings.

The EXIF data can be used to verify if the images comply with those rules. The Contest Gallery plugin allows you to display EXIF data along with media files on the front end. It will inform voters and visitors about the devices that have been used.
